Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.— Proverbs 18:21

Let me be blunt words matter. You can act tough, pretend you don’t care, throw around that “sticks and stones” line if you want, but deep down you know the truth: words leave scars that fists never could. We’ve all been wrecked by something someone said, and let’s be real we’ve all been the one to throw a word like a knife too.
And I know what some people will say: “Oh, I didn’t mean it like that” or “You’re just too sensitive.” Nah, cut the bullshit. If you said it, you meant it. If it left your lips, it carried weight. Stop hiding behind excuses. Own your words. Own the damage. Own the healing too.
Let’s stop pretending like words don’t matter. They do. They cut, they heal, they linger, they stain. We’ve all been there smiling on the outside but bleeding on the inside because of something somebody said. A careless comment. A cruel joke. A sharp “truth” tossed out without care. And here’s the reality: the tongue has no bones, but it will break you down faster than fists ever could. Bruises fade, but words? They echo in the back of your mind when the room is quiet, when you’re alone, when you least expect it.
This isn’t about being soft. It’s about being real. We’ve all thrown words like daggers and we’ve all been stabbed by them too. But the question is do we even realize the damage we cause? Or have we become so numb that we excuse cruelty as “just being honest”?

The tongue has no bones,
but damn, it breaks harder than fists.
Don’t call it honesty
if all you’re doing is spitting venom.
Don’t say “I’m just blunt”
when really, you’re just careless.
Raw truth isn’t cruelty,
and cruelty isn’t truth.
Here’s the thing I’m not here to play nice or wrap this up in pretty words. I say what I mean. I don’t hide behind filters or excuses, but I’m not gonna lie either: I’ve been on both ends. I’ve been broken by words, and I’ve broken others with mine.
So let’s stop pretending. Words can crush, they can heal, they can shape a person’s entire damn life. Every time you open your mouth, you’re either building someone or tearing them down. That’s the truth.
And if being blunt makes me the one who eliminates all the bullshit? So be it. Because somebody has to say it: your words carry weight so don’t use them like weapons unless you’re ready for the blood on your hands.
