A clown sitting on the steps, painted smile, bright suit, shoes too big for reality. People walk by. Some notice, some don’t. Isn’t that life?
Every single day, most of us walk out the door, putting on our own version of that clown suit. We smile at coworkers even when we’re tired. We laugh at family gatherings even though we’re carrying stress. We crack jokes so nobody asks, “Are you okay?” Because the truth is, most of the time, we’re not.

This isn’t about clowns. It’s about us. About how heavy life can feel when you have to perform “fine” while drowning on the inside. Bills stacked up, jobs draining the life out of you, relationships breaking you down, kids depending on you when you barely have anything left to give. And still, you show up. With your painted smile.
We live in a world where strength is measured by how well you hide your weakness. But what if real strength is the courage to admit you’re tired? To say you need help? To put the mask down and stop pretending everything’s okay?
Because the truth is, nobody claps for the clown when the show is over. Nobody cheers when you go home and sit in silence. But that’s where the battle is won or lost behind closed doors.
The Daily Show
Wake up, dress up, play the part,
Smile wide though breaking heart.
Bills to pay, mouths to feed,
Push aside your deepest need.
World demands you laugh and shine,
Even when you’re far from fine.
But truth breaks chains when masks come down,
No more clown shoes, no more clown.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28
That’s not just spiritual talk, that’s a lifeline. Because sometimes, rest isn’t a nap. Rest is being real. Rest is letting the tears fall. Rest is not performing for a world that only wants the show.
This is our everyday: juggling survival, responsibilities, and expectations. Wearing masks so the world doesn’t see the storm inside. But here’s the truth: your life has value beyond performance. You don’t have to be the clown for anybody.
Take a deep breath. Admit when it’s hard. Lay down the mask and walk in truth, because the strongest version of you is the real one.
And remember here on Treasurable Life, I bring you raw truth with a purpose. Silence is unacceptable. I will be your voice.
