Daily writing prompt
What jobs have you had?

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?
Not the cute, soft-focus kind. I’m talking about the messy, sweat-dripping, clock-watching, “Lord, just get me to lunch” kind of memory lane. The jobs. The grinds. The survival stories.

If someone asked, “What jobs have you had?” I’d have to take a deep breath, sip some tea (or wine), and say:

“How much time you got?

From the Humble to the Hustle Let’s be real, our job history isn’t just a résumé, it’s a survival timeline.
It’s not just about what we did for money, but who we became through it all.

Some of us flipped burgers, stocked shelves, took orders, scrubbed floors, answered phones, babysat kids, cleaned rooms, or worked night shifts while chasing dreams by day.

Others wore heels or steel-toed boots, worked the front desk or the back of the warehouse. Some of us built things, sold things, or healed people with nothing but compassion and cracked knuckles.

The waitressing job taught me how to serve with grace, even when I wanted to flip a table.

The retail gig taught me how to smile through the chaos.

The nursing career taught me how to be a warrior for others, even when I was hurting myself.

The writing I do now? It teaches me that purpose doesn’t always pay first—it just pulls you until you answer.

No job was beneath me. Even the ones that broke me built me at the same time. Because every role I played, every uniform I wore, every late night or early morning—I see now—they were layers of my strength.

You are not just your job title.
You’re the late nights, the sacrifices, the “I’m doing this for my kids” or “I just need a way out” moments.
You’re the one who clocked in tired but still showed up with purpose.

And for that? You deserve to be celebrated.

That verse hits differently when you’re tired, underpaid, and still showing up. It reminds us that our why is always bigger than our what.

From side hustles to soul work, every job shaped the journey.
